- Eligibility: UK or EU craft soap and toiletry makers with safety-assessed products by a chartered chemist per Cosmetics Regulations. Documents should be in English.
- Safety Assessments: Provide the original safety report from your assessor. If you have many, one sample suffices. Part B should show safety statement, assessor sign-off, and date.
- Contact Details Needed: Business/trading name, website, business address (with postcode), contact name, and business email. Email all details to info@gcstm.co.uk. Add the Guild’s email to your “safe senders” list.
- Regulations: Register with either the Cosmetic Products Notification Portal (CPNP) or the UK notifications portal. Guild assumes members are compliant.
- Insurance: If available, have insurance cover. Though not required to show proof, it’s the member’s responsibility.
- Membership Benefits: Emphasizes compliance with cosmetics safety regulations. Members receive a certificate, which they can promote, thereby elevating Guild’s reputation and awareness. Members have FREE access to a CPD course of over 120 lessons: Crafting Success: Marketing Strategies for Artisan Cosmetics in the UK and have FREE access to e-books on various aspects of running an Artisan Cosmetics Business
- Privacy: The Guild does not sell/share member data.
- Additional Notes: Guild supports self-employed and SMEs, emphasizing independent product verification. Membership doesn’t replace other trade bodies. Admission is discretionary without room for correspondence. The Guild promotes existing standards and doesn’t validate raw material suppliers.
Unsuccessful applicants: Kindly note that we will not engage in extended correspondence. The most common reason for an unsuccessful application is failure to send the required information. You can reapply anytime. The easiest way to ensure your application is successful first time is to ensure that you send, as a minimum, all of part B of one of your safety assessments. It is essential that we see your details and the name and signature of the safety assessor on the same document.
