Little Soap Company

Emma Heathcote-James Founder & CEO Little Soap Company

Emma Heathcote-James is the founder and CEO of Little Soap Company and a woman on a mission. After a busy career in the city, a passion for the environment and wanting to do more led Emma to root in the calm of the Cotswolds and create a collection of hand-made, organic soaps – it was from here in 2008 the game changing, multi-award-winning Little Soap Company was born.

Within a year, and with her signature passion and drive, Emma had taken her concept from the kitchen table to disrupt the soap market as they became the first organic, vegan and sustainable products to line the supermarket shelf and at affordable prices which is where they’ve remained the past fifteen years – and with three more ranges adding to them.

Certified in 2020 as a B Corp, Little Soap Company is a part of an exciting growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose and not solely profit. Having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent its commitment to environmental goals they went on to win the Queens Award for Innovation in 2022 for their latest brand, Eco Warrior which is entirely plastic free, formulating traditionally bottled liquids, into bar form. Soap is no longer soap, with job specific bars for hands, face, body, shave and shampoo.

Emma’s love of soap began early – her grandmother always had pure, traditional, classic soap, bought from French markets, offering luxury at the bathroom sink and beautifully scenting the linen cupboards with fresh lavender. To Emma, the skin care market is akin to the food industry – it’s about provenance and fresh, healthy ingredients. We are awash with chemicals in our daily lives and Emma’s mission is to make pure, natural, sustainable soap norm not niche, one bathroom at a time.

Nestling in the foothills of the North Cotswolds and an ever growing team based around the country, both Emma and the business have accolades including:

  • Certified BCorp™ 2020 and recertified February 2024.
  • Woman and Home ‘Best Vegan Brand’ 2023
